Some of them includes: Environmental damage, Air pollution, safety Hazards, Economic Costs, legal and regulatory challenges and many more.
Abandoned oil wells can pose safety hazards, especially if they are not properly sealed or maintained. They can become a source of explosions, fires, and other accidents. These hazards can endanger nearby communities, workers, and wildlife.

Abandoned oil wells can release methane, a potent greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere. Methane contributes to climate change and can also pose health risks to nearby communities. Additionally, abandoned wells can emit other pollutants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and sulfur dioxide, which can cause respiratory problems and other health issues.

L Damage: Abandoned oil wells can leak oil, gas, and other harmful substances into the surrounding environment. This can contaminate soil, groundwater, and surface water, leading to the destruction of ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity. It can also harm plants, animals, and aquatic life. These are all the knowledge impacted during the monthly meetings in Bayelsa State chapter.
